Details
A weathered skull with the top of the cranium broken away, leaving a deep open bowl where the brainpan used to be. Set it by the door in October and it holds candy for trick or treaters. Leave it out the rest of the year and it works as a gothic catchall for keys, rings, dice, and loose change. The fracture lines and bone texture catch shadow from across the room, so it reads as a sculpted piece first and a bowl second.
๐ Full Product Description
This is a 3D printed decorative skull bowl designed by novYTerra and printed and sold by CurioPrinta under a commercial license. The sculpt is a realistic human-style skull, cracked open across the top of the cranium, with the broken edge left jagged and uneven so it looks split rather than cleanly cut. Below the break, the interior opens into a wide, deep basin. The outer surface carries the detail you expect from a real skull: brow ridge, temporal hollows, cheekbones, teeth, and eye sockets, all with a worn, aged finish.
It suits a lot of shelves. During Halloween it works as a candy bowl on an entry table, a centerpiece on a dining or party table, or part of a larger spooky tablescape alongside candles that stay at a safe distance, bones, and dried botanicals. Off season it settles into gothic, horror, and dark academia interiors as a trinket dish on a dresser, a desk catchall for pens and paper clips, a dice bowl on a game table, or a display piece on a bar cart or bookshelf. Smaller sizes sit comfortably on a nightstand or desk, while the larger ones have the presence to anchor a table.
Four sizes are offered, from a small trinket dish up to a large centerpiece bowl. Each one is printed in PLA and supplied unpainted in a single solid filament color. The bare print takes primer and paint well if you want to add washes, dry brushing, or a bone-and-grime finish yourself, and it looks good straight out of the box in a dark or off-white filament.
This piece is offered as dry decor. It is not made or sold as aquarium decor, terrarium decor, or animal habitat equipment, and it is not a food service dish. Wrapped candy is fine. Loose or unwrapped food, hot food, and liquids are not what this bowl is built for.

๐งฑ Material Options
This piece is offered in one version only.
PLA Dry Model
The Skull Bowl is printed in PLA and supplied completely unpainted. PLA is intended for dry decorative use: shelf display, home and seasonal decor, tabletop gaming, dioramas, and desk use. Keep it out of standing water, constant moisture, and direct high heat.
PLA versions are not recommended for submerged aquarium use.
No wet model offered for this piece
CurioPrinta prints an unpainted PETG Wet Model for decor meant for aquariums, misted or high-humidity enclosures, and high-UV setups, because PETG handles prolonged moisture and UV far better than standard PLA. The Skull Bowl is not offered in that version. Treat it as a dry decorative object, not habitat equipment.
๐ง Use & Care
Everyday display
๐ก Place it on a stable, level surface where it will not be knocked off an edge.
๐ฅ Keep it away from lit candles, tealights, open flame, heat vents, radiators, and hot appliances. PLA softens with heat.
๐ Avoid long stretches in direct sun or a closed hot car, both of which can warp or discolor PLA over time.
๐ง Keep it out of standing water and constantly damp spots such as a bathroom counter or a wet sink edge.
Using it for candy
๐ฌ Wrapped candy only. This is a decorative bowl, not a food service dish, and it is not sold as food safe.
๐ซ No hot food, no liquids, and nothing that needs to be washed at high temperature afterward.
โจ Wipe the interior with a dry or lightly damp cloth before you fill it, and again after the season.
Cleaning
๐งน Dust with a soft brush or a dry cloth. A soft toothbrush works well in the deeper sculpted detail.
๐ฆ Use a lightly damp cloth with plain water when needed, then let it dry fully.
โ Avoid bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, boiling water, dishwashers, and any high-temperature cleaning.
๐ Dimensions
Approximate dimensions (Length ร Width ร Height), imperial first with metric in parentheses:
Small (S1) 3.1" ร 2.2" ร 1.5" (80 ร 55 ร 37 mm)
Medium (S2) 4.7" ร 3.3" ร 2.2" (120 ร 83 ร 55 mm)
Large (S3) 6.3" ร 4.3" ร 2.9" (160 ร 110 ร 74 mm)
XL 7.9" ร 5.4" ร 3.6" (200 ร 138 ร 92 mm)
Because each item is individually 3D printed, minor dimensional variation may occur.
๐จ Color and Appearance
Each bowl is printed in a single solid filament color and ships unpainted, with no paint, sealant, or coating applied. Color may look slightly different in person than it does on screen because of lighting, photography, monitor settings, and normal filament batch variation, so an exact match to the photos is not promised.
Filament color does most of the work on a piece like this. A bone or off-white filament leans classic skull, a black or dark grey leans gothic and graphic, and metallics or translucents give it a different character again under warm room lighting. If you would rather finish it yourself, the unpainted surface takes primer and acrylics well.
๐จ๏ธ About 3D Printing
This item is created using FDM 3D printing technology. Fine layer lines, small seams, slight texture changes, and minor variations between prints are normal characteristics of the process. They are not considered defects, and they make each piece slightly unique.
Support contact marks may appear in recessed or hidden areas such as the eye sockets, the underside, and the inside of the fracture edge. Every bowl is produced individually rather than injection molded, so no two are perfectly identical.
๐ฆ Made to Order
Each Skull Bowl is printed to order in the size you select. Small differences between prints are normal and expected. Production time is separate from shipping time, so the total wait is print time plus transit.
โ ๏ธ Safety Notes
This is a decorative object, not a toy. It is not intended for children to play with, and it is not intended for use inside animal enclosures. Keep it out of reach of pets and small children, who may chew, bite, or knock it over. The material should not be chewed or swallowed.
PLA is heat sensitive, so keep the bowl away from flames, candles, and other heat sources. If a piece becomes cracked, chipped, or develops a sharp edge, retire it from use, and keep any broken fragments away from children and animals, since small parts can be a hazard. CurioPrinta cannot account for every room, surface, temperature, or way a piece might be used, so the decision to use it in a given spot is yours.
๐ซ What Is Not Included
You receive one Skull Bowl in the size you select, printed unpainted in a single solid color. Candy, sweets, jewelry, dice, plants, dried botanicals, candles, furniture, and any other styling props shown in the photographs are not included. Some photos may show a painted example to illustrate finishing ideas. The item ships unpainted.
โ Frequently Asked Questions
๐ง Can this be placed underwater?
No. This piece is printed in PLA, and PLA versions are not recommended for submerged aquarium use. It is not offered in an unpainted PETG Wet Model, which is what CurioPrinta uses for submerged and high-humidity decor.
๐จ Is it painted?
No. Every Skull Bowl ships unpainted in a single solid filament color, with no paint, sealant, or coating applied.
๐งฑ Can I order this in PETG instead of PLA?
This design is currently offered in PLA only, for dry decorative use. Message the shop before ordering if you have a specific need and we can tell you whether it is something we can do.
๐๏ธ Can I paint it myself?
Yes, the bare print takes primer and acrylics well, and washes really bring out the sculpted bone detail. If you ever plan to use a painted piece around an animal or anywhere near food, research and confirm any coating yourself for that specific use, since we cannot verify products we did not apply.
๐ฌ Can I put candy in it?
Wrapped candy, yes, and that is the most common use. It is not sold as a food safe or food service dish, so skip loose or unwrapped food, hot food, and liquids.
๐ฆ How should I clean it?
Dust with a soft brush or dry cloth, and use a lightly damp cloth with plain water when it needs more. Avoid bleach, solvents, abrasives, boiling water, and the dishwasher.
๐ท Will it look exactly like the photographs?
It will match the sculpt, but color can shift with lighting, photography, monitor settings, and filament batch, and layer lines and texture vary slightly from print to print. An exact match is not promised.
๐ฆ Can I use it in a terrarium or reptile enclosure?
It is sold as dry home decor, not as habitat equipment, and PLA is not recommended for humid, misted, or high-UV enclosures. We make no suitability claims for any species, so anything beyond dry decorative use is a decision for you as the keeper.
