Details
A forest floor rises up the back of the enclosure: slender trunks, knotted bark, and clusters of sculpted mushrooms shelving out from the wood. The relief is deep enough to cast real shadow, so the flat rear pane turns into layered woodland with places to climb, perch, and disappear into. Moss and small plants settle in around the caps and root lines, and after a few months of growth the panel reads less like decor and more like the back half of a real habitat.
📖 Full Product Description
This is a 3D printed background panel designed to sit against the rear wall of a terrarium, vivarium, or paludarium. Designed by novYTerra and printed by CurioPrinta under a commercial license, the surface is sculpted as a section of woodland: fine tree structures with textured bark, natural undulations across the face, and realistically shaped mushrooms growing out from the trunks at several heights. The detail is cut deep rather than embossed flat, which is what gives the panel its dimension under enclosure lighting.
The raised mushroom caps and bark ridges double as climbing terrain, perches, and shaded pockets where an animal can tuck out of sight. In a bioactive or planted build, moss, ferns, and small epiphytes take hold along the textured surfaces and grow into the design over time. The panel is meant to be positioned flush against the back pane as the visual anchor of a layout, with substrate, wood, and plants built up in front of it. It works equally well as the dry backdrop in a display terrarium or as the above-water wall in a paludarium.
The woodland styling suits a range of humid and planted setups. Printed as a PETG Wet Model, it fits misted and bioactive enclosures housing animals such as dart frogs, tree frogs, crested geckos, and day geckos, along with invertebrates like jumping spiders, praying mantises, tropical isopods, and springtails. Naming a species here is for context and search, not a suitability claim: compare the panel dimensions, the depth of the caps and recesses, and the surfaces themselves against the adult size and behavior of your specific animals before you use it.
You receive the mushroom forest backwall in the size you select, printed unpainted in a single solid filament color. Plants, substrate, animals, lighting, and the enclosure itself are not included. Each panel is printed to order, so the texture and layer character of yours will be slightly its own.

🧱 Material Options
PETG Wet Model (the only version offered for this design)
This backwall is printed in PETG and supplied completely unpainted. PETG is the material CurioPrinta uses for humid, misted, bioactive, and brightly lit enclosures because it handles prolonged moisture and UV exposure considerably better than standard PLA. That is a material choice rather than a guarantee: continuous high-output UV can still gradually embrittle PETG over time, and PETG is not permanently waterproof, indestructible, chemically inert, or universally suitable for every animal or set of conditions.
No PLA Dry Model for this piece
Some CurioPrinta designs are also offered as a PLA Dry Model for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, and shelf display. This mushroom backwall is not one of them. It is printed in PETG only, because the enclosures it is built for are humid and often strongly lit. PLA is not recommended for wet or heavily misted setups, for submerged use, or under strong UV lighting, so it is not offered here at all.
🔧 Setup, Use & Care
Before first use
💧 Rinse the panel thoroughly with clean water before it goes into an enclosure.
🚫 Avoid soaps, detergents, household cleaners, and unapproved chemical treatments.
🔍 Inspect the panel and check that recesses, gaps, and mushroom overhangs are appropriately sized for the animals that will live with it.
For terrarium, vivarium & paludarium use
🌡️ Verify that the material and design suit your habitat’s temperature, humidity, lighting, and species.
🔥 Keep it away from direct contact with high-output heat lamps, heating elements, and other intense heat sources.
🧱 Position and secure the panel flat against the back so it cannot tip, slide, collapse, or trap an animal behind it.
🦎 Check pockets, overhangs, and gaps against your animal’s adult size, not its current size.
🌊 In a paludarium, treat it as the above-water background. This design is offered for humid and splash-zone placement rather than permanent full submersion in an aquarium.
🧹 Inspect regularly for wear, damage, trapped waste, or areas that are difficult to clean, and remove the panel if it becomes damaged or develops sharp areas.
📘 Let qualified, species-specific husbandry guidance take priority over any general product suggestion.
Cleaning
Rinse with clean water and use a soft brush for anything stubborn. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, boiling water, dishwashers, and high-temperature cleaning, all of which can damage the surface detail. If the panel is removed for long-term storage, let it dry completely first. Introduce it back into a stocked enclosure thoughtfully and watch how your animals use it over the first few days.
📐 Dimensions
Approximate dimensions (Width × Depth × Height), imperial first with metric in parentheses:
S1 4.3" × 1.9" × 6.3" (110 × 49 × 160 mm)
S2 5.7" × 2.6" × 8.4" (145 × 65 × 213 mm)
S3 7.5" × 3.0" × 7.5" (190 × 75 × 190 mm)
S4 7.5" × 3.3" × 11.4" (190 × 85 × 290 mm)
XL 11.4" × 5.1" × 11.4" (290 × 130 × 290 mm)
Because each item is individually 3D printed, minor dimensional variation may occur.
🎨 Color and Appearance
The panel is printed in a solid-color filament and is not painted, sealed, or coated. Some listing photos may show a painted example to illustrate what the sculpting can look like when finished; your panel ships unpainted.
Colors can look slightly different in person because of lighting, photography, monitor settings, and filament batches, and the panel’s appearance shifts noticeably under different enclosure lighting or once the surface is misted and damp. Natural-looking variation comes from choosing an appropriate filament color rather than from applied paint, and an exact color match is not promised.
🖨️ About 3D Printing
This item is created using FDM 3D printing technology. Fine layer lines, small seams, slight texture changes, and minor variations are normal characteristics of the process. These details are not considered defects, and on a woodland texture like this one they tend to read as bark grain. Support-contact marks may appear in hidden or recessed areas, such as underneath the mushroom caps, and small cosmetic differences occur between prints because each panel is individually produced rather than injection molded.
🛠️ Made to Order
Each panel is printed individually after you order, so minor differences between pieces are normal. Production time is separate from shipping time.
🧩 S1, S2, and S3 ship as a single piece. S4 and XL are too large for one plate, so they print in sections and ship as separate printed pieces that fit together to form the full panel, ready for you to position and secure in your enclosure.
⚠️ Safety and Compatibility
This product is decorative habitat decor, not a toy. You are responsible for deciding whether the size, material, openings, surfaces, and placement are appropriate for your specific animals and habitat. Animals should not be allowed to chew or ingest the material, and the panel should be removed if it becomes damaged, since small or broken pieces may present a hazard. CurioPrinta cannot account for every species, animal behavior, enclosure design, humidity level, temperature, or maintenance routine, so please confirm suitability for your own setup before use.
CurioPrinta does not describe this product as "reptile safe," "non-toxic," or guaranteed for any specific animal. Naming a species anywhere in this listing is for search relevance and design context, not a compatibility or safety claim.

❓ FAQ
💧 Can this be placed underwater?
This design is offered for terrariums, vivariums, and paludariums rather than for permanent full submersion in an aquarium. It is printed in PETG, which handles humidity, misting, and splash-zone placement well, so in a paludarium it belongs above the waterline as the background.
🎨 Is the panel painted?
No. It ships completely unpainted in a solid filament color. Any painted images are finishing examples only.
🧱 Can I order this in PLA?
Not for this design. The mushroom backwall is printed in PETG only, because it is built for humid and often brightly lit enclosures where PLA is not recommended.
☀️ How does it hold up under strong UV lighting?
PETG stands up to high-output UV considerably better than PLA, which is exactly why it is the material used here. It is not immune, since continuous UV gradually embrittles any plastic, so check the panel periodically as part of normal maintenance.
🧩 Do the larger sizes come assembled?
S1, S2, and S3 ship as a single piece. S4 and XL print in sections and ship as separate pieces that fit together into the full panel, which you position and secure in the enclosure.
🖌️ Can I paint it myself?
You can, but anything you add to an animal habitat is your call to research: independently confirm that a paint or coating is suitable for your species, humidity, and lighting before it goes in an enclosure. CurioPrinta ships the panel unpainted and does not recommend customer-applied coatings for wet or misted setups.
🧹 How should I clean it?
Rinse with clean water and use a soft brush when needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasives, boiling water, and dishwashers, and let the panel dry fully before long-term storage.
📷 Will it look exactly like the photographs?
It will be very close, though small differences in texture, layer lines, and color are normal for made-to-order 3D prints, and the surface looks different again under your own lighting or when misted.
🦎 Is it suitable for my specific reptile, amphibian, or invertebrate?
That depends on your animal and your setup, so compare the dimensions, recesses, and overhangs against your species and follow qualified husbandry guidance. CurioPrinta cannot guarantee compatibility with any specific animal.
