Details
Deep in a rainforest, light filters through a tangle of ancient roots and weathered bark, and every crevice hints at something hidden just out of sight. The Magic Forest background panel brings that overgrown, mysterious woodland straight to the back wall of your terrarium, turning a plain enclosure into a layered forest scene with real depth and shadow. Detailed root structures and natural surface texture give reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates a backdrop that feels grown rather than built.
The Magic Forest panel is a sculpted terrarium background inspired by the dense root walls and tangled undergrowth of tropical and rainforest habitats. Across its face, interwoven roots, bark ridges, and organic hollows create a strong three dimensional effect, so the wall reads as a living forest edge rather than a flat sheet of plastic. Deeper recesses catch shadow while raised roots pick up light, giving the panel visible depth even in a shallow enclosure.
The panel is designed to sit against the rear wall of a terrarium as a vertical backdrop. It pairs naturally with live plants, moss, cork, and leaf litter that can grow into and around the texture over time, so it settles into a planted or bioactive layout instead of standing out as an obvious accessory.
This panel comes in two versions so you can match it to your habitat. The Wet Model is printed in PETG for high humidity and partially submerged terrariums, and the Dry Model is printed in PLA for arid setups, display, and tabletop use. Full details are in the Material Options section below.
This panel is a decorative background surface. It is not designed as a sealed cave or enclosed hide, so before choosing a size and version you should compare the panel footprint and any recessed areas against the size and climbing or burrowing behavior of your specific animals. Confirm that no gap, ledge, or opening could trap, pinch, or wedge an animal in your particular enclosure. Intended habitats noted by the original designer include tropical and humid terrariums for reptiles and amphibians (such as dart frogs, tree frogs, crested geckos, and day geckos), along with invertebrates such as tarantulas, isopods, millipedes, praying mantises, and land snails.
You receive one Magic Forest background panel in the version and color you select, 3D printed to order in a single solid filament color.

🧵 Material Options
💧 Wet Model (PETG)
The Wet Model is printed in PETG and supplied completely unpainted. It is intended for high humidity terrariums, misted and bioactive setups, and partially submerged use where the base of the panel sits in water. CurioPrinta uses PETG for these moisture exposed conditions rather than standard PLA because PETG holds up better to prolonged contact with humidity and water.
PETG is the material we prefer for wet and humid use, but it is not permanently waterproof, indestructible, chemically inert, or universally suitable for every animal or habitat. You remain responsible for confirming the material and design fit your enclosure temperature, humidity, water conditions, and species.
🏜️ Dry Model (PLA)
The Dry Model is printed in PLA and is intended for dry use only, such as arid or low humidity terrariums, dioramas, tabletop gaming terrain, shelf display, and general home decor. Like the Wet Model, it is supplied unpainted in a solid filament color.
PLA versions are not recommended for submerged aquarium use, and are not recommended for high humidity, misted, or partially submerged terrarium environments. For those conditions, choose the PETG Wet Model.
🔧 Setup, Use, and Care
Terrarium Setup and Use
Choose the version that matches your habitat: PETG Wet Model for high humidity or partially submerged setups, PLA Dry Model for arid or display use.
Confirm that the material and design suit your habitat temperature, humidity, lighting, and animal species before installing.
Rinse the panel with clean water before it goes into an enclosure. Avoid soaps, detergents, household cleaners, or unapproved chemical treatments.
Inspect the item before use, checking for loose strings, rough spots, or sharp edges, and sand lightly if needed.
Keep the panel away from direct contact with high output heat lamps, heating elements, open flames, or other intense heat sources. This matters especially for the PLA Dry Model, which softens at lower temperatures than PETG.
Position and secure the panel so it cannot shift, tip, or collapse onto an animal. Confirm any openings, ledges, or recesses are appropriate for your animals adult size.
Inspect regularly for wear, damage, trapped waste, or areas that are hard to clean, and remove the panel if it becomes damaged or develops sharp areas.
Introduce any new decor thoughtfully and observe your animals afterward. Species specific husbandry guidance from a qualified source should take priority over general product suggestions.
Cleaning
For a PETG Wet Model, rinse with clean water and use a soft brush when needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, boiling water, dishwashers, and high temperature cleaning. Allow the panel to dry completely if it is removed for long term storage.
For a PLA Dry Model, dust with a soft brush or cloth and use a lightly damp cloth when appropriate. Keep it away from intense heat and do not soak it. Do not use chemical cleaners in an animal habitat unless you have confirmed they are suitable for that habitat and species.
📐 Dimensions
Approximate dimensions, imperial first with metric in parentheses (Length x Width x Height). Weights are approximate and vary by material, since submerged PETG panels are printed at a higher infill density than dry-display PLA.
Size Dimensions: 11.4" × 11.4" × 2.8" (290 × 290 × 70 mm
Because each item is individually 3D printed, minor dimensional variation may occur.
🎨 Color and Appearance
Any color in the color chart is available. For the most convincing wet-rock and aged-stone look, we suggest darker or muted tones such as grey, black, midnight, coffee brown, roasted chestnut, chocolate, oak, or olive green. Brighter colors are there if you want a bolder, stylized piece.
Panels print in a single solid color and are not painted. Actual color can vary with lighting, photography, monitor settings, and filament batches, and may look different submerged or under habitat lighting. A natural look comes from choosing the right filament color rather than from paint. Exact color matching is not guaranteed.
🖨️ About 3D Printing
This piece is made with FDM 3D printing. Fine layer lines, small seams, slight texture shifts, and support-contact marks in recessed areas are normal traits of the process, not defects, and make each print slightly unique. Every item is individually produced rather than injection molded.
📬 Made to Order
Each piece is printed individually, so minor differences are normal.

⚠️ Safety and Compatibility
This is decorative habitat décor, not a toy. You are responsible for deciding whether the size, material, openings, surfaces, and placement suit your animals and habitat. Do not let animals chew or ingest the material, and remove the piece if it is damaged, as broken pieces may be a hazard. CurioPrinta cannot account for every species, behavior, enclosure, water chemistry, temperature, or maintenance routine, so please use your own judgment.
🚫 What Is Not Included
Plants, substrate, rocks, animals, enclosures, and lighting shown in photos are not included.
❓ FAQ
Does it come painted?
No. Every panel ships unpainted and unfinished in a single solid color. Painted examples in the photos show what is possible with your own finishing.
Can it go underwater?
A submerged PETG version can. PLA versions should never be submerged.
Can I order it in PLA?
Yes, for dry use only: dioramas, tabletop, shelf, and home décor.
Can I paint it myself?
Yes, at your discretion for dry display. For any live-animal habitat, any coating must be independently researched and confirmed suitable for your species and environment. Painting is not recommended for submerged use.
Will it match the photos exactly?
It will be close, but color and texture vary slightly with lighting, filament batches, monitors, and the printing process.
Is it right for my specific animal?
That depends on your animal and setup. Compare the dimensions and openings to your species' size and behavior. Compatibility is not guaranteed.
