Details
A hollow tree trunk clings to the side of the glass, bark split open into a wide, shadowed doorway with gnarled branches reaching out into the enclosure. Your jumping spider can perch on the limbs, tuck into the hollow, and web the whole thing into its favorite corner. The face worked into the opening gives it a haunted, storybook look that suits a Halloween build in October and a gnarled woodland scene the rest of the year. It holds to the pane with magnets, so you can set it at whatever height your spider likes and move it whenever you rearrange.
📖 Full Product Description
The Hollow Scream is a 3D printed hollow tree hide that mounts directly to the inside of a terrarium pane using magnets. Designed by novYTerra and printed and sold by CurioPrinta under commercial license, it is built around a single large opening in the trunk, sculpted with deep bark grain, knots, and twisting branches that carry the wood texture out past the main body. The opening is shaped so it reads as a hollowed, weathered face, which is where the design gets both its name and its seasonal appeal.
Because it attaches to the glass rather than sitting on the substrate, it adds usable vertical territory to a small enclosure without taking up floor space. Arboreal residents spend most of their time up high, and a mounted hide gives them a sheltered retreat at that level instead of forcing a trip down to the ground. The branches double as anchor points and climbing terrain, and the hollow interior gives a shy animal somewhere dim to retreat to when the enclosure is being observed. Mount it high for an arboreal setup, low near the substrate for a woodland floor scene, or angle it into a corner so it reads as part of a larger tree.
The design suits small arboreal and terrestrial invertebrate keepers. For regularly misted, planted, or bioactive enclosures, the PETG Wet Model fits keepers of jumping spiders such as Phidippus regius, Phidippus audax, and Hyllus diardi, along with mantis nymphs, tropical isopods, and springtails. For drier builds and display work, the PLA Dry Model suits arid-setup keepers housing animals such as Porcellio isopods and small terrestrial tarantulas, as well as dioramas and tabletop terrain. Naming a species here is about matching the piece to a style of setup, not a claim that it suits any particular animal. Compare the opening, the interior space, and the overall footprint against the adult size and behavior of your own animals before use.
At roughly 3.9 inches across the branches, this is a small-enclosure piece: it fits comfortably in the cube and column enclosures most jumping spider keepers use, and works as a single feature rather than a full backdrop. You receive one hollow tree hide with its magnets already installed, printed unpainted in a single solid filament color. Every piece is printed to order, so the bark texture and layer character will be slightly unique to yours.

🧱 Material Options
This hide is offered in two versions, so you can match it to your enclosure:
PETG Wet Model
Choose this version for high-humidity, misted, planted, or bioactive setups, and for enclosures running high-output UV lighting. It is printed in PETG and supplied completely unpainted. CurioPrinta uses PETG for these setups rather than standard PLA because PETG handles prolonged moisture and UV exposure far better than PLA. That is a material choice, not a guarantee: continuous high-output UV can still gradually embrittle PETG over time, and PETG is not permanently waterproof, indestructible, chemically inert, or universally suitable for every animal or set of conditions.
PLA Dry Model
Choose this version for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, shelf display, and general home decor. PLA versions are not recommended for submerged use, constantly wet or heavily misted enclosures, or setups with strong UV lighting. Pick PLA only when the hide will stay dry and out of intense UV.
A note on the magnets
Both versions ship with the magnets already installed. Magnets are metal hardware, and metal can corrode over time in a wet or frequently misted enclosure. Check them as part of your normal maintenance and remove the piece if the mounting loosens or the hardware shows damage.
🔧 Setup, Use & Care
Mounting
🧲 Clean and dry the glass, then place the hide against the inside of the pane and set the matching magnet on the outside so the two line up.
📏 Test the hold with a gentle push before adding animals, and re-check it after any move or rearrangement.
Maximum glass thickness the magnets will hold through: [PLACEHOLDER]
For terrarium, vivarium & paludarium use
💧 Rinse the hide with clean water before it goes into an enclosure, and let it dry.
🚫 Avoid soaps, detergents, household cleaners, and unapproved chemical treatments.
🌡️ Verify the material and design suit your habitat’s temperature, humidity, lighting, and species.
🔥 Keep it away from direct contact with heat lamps, heating elements, and other intense heat sources.
🐜 Check the opening and interior space against your animal’s adult size, and make sure a mounted piece cannot pin or trap anything against the glass.
🧹 Inspect regularly for wear, damage, trapped waste, or areas that are hard to clean, and remove the piece if it becomes damaged or no longer holds securely.
📘 Let qualified, species-specific husbandry guidance take priority over general product suggestions.
Cleaning
For the PETG Wet Model, rinse with clean water and use a soft brush when needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, boiling water, dishwashers, and high-temperature cleaning. Let it dry completely before remounting or storing. For the PLA Dry Model, dust with a soft brush or cloth, use a lightly damp cloth when appropriate, and keep it away from intense heat. Where an animal has webbed the hide heavily, clean it only when you would normally disturb that part of the enclosure.
📐 Dimensions
Approximate dimensions, imperial first with metric in parentheses:
Width (across the branches): 3.9" (100 mm)
Height: 2.5" (64.3 mm)
Depth (projection from the glass): 2.5" (64.15 mm)
The width figure is the full span of the outstretched branches, so the trunk body itself occupies noticeably less of the pane than that number suggests.
Because each item is individually 3D printed, minor dimensional variation may occur.
🎨 Color and Appearance
The hide is printed in a solid-color filament and is not painted. The bark grain, knots, and branch texture come from the sculpt itself, so the piece reads as weathered wood without any applied finish. Some listing photos may show it painted; those are finishing examples only, and your hide ships unpainted.
Colors may look slightly different in person because of lighting, photography, monitor settings, and filament batches, and the appearance can shift under enclosure lighting or once the piece has been webbed over. An exact color match is not promised.
🖨️ About 3D Printing
This item is created using FDM 3D printing technology. Fine layer lines, small seams, slight texture changes, and minor variations are normal characteristics of the process. These details are not considered defects and make each piece slightly unique. Support-contact marks may appear inside the hollow or on the undersides of the branches, and minor cosmetic differences can occur between prints because each hide is individually produced rather than injection molded.
🛠️ Made to Order
Each hide is printed individually after you order, so minor differences between pieces are normal. Production time is separate from shipping time.
🧩 The hide prints as a single piece and ships fully assembled, with the four 10 × 2 mm round magnets already installed. No gluing, seating, or assembly is needed on your end.
⚠️ Safety and Compatibility
This product is decorative habitat decor, not a toy. You are responsible for deciding whether the size, material, opening, surfaces, magnets, and placement are appropriate for your specific animals and habitat. Animals should not be allowed to chew or ingest the material, and the item should be removed if it becomes damaged or if the mounting loosens, as small parts, loose magnets, or broken pieces may present a hazard. Because the hide is mounted rather than freestanding, check that it is held firmly before adding animals and after any disturbance to the enclosure. CurioPrinta cannot account for every species, animal behavior, enclosure design, humidity level, temperature, or maintenance routine, so please confirm suitability for your own setup before use.
CurioPrinta does not describe this product as "reptile safe," "invertebrate safe," "non-toxic," or guaranteed for any specific animal. Naming a species anywhere in this listing is for search relevance and design context, not a compatibility or safety claim.

❓ FAQ
🧲 How does it attach to the enclosure?
Magnetically. The hide arrives with four 10 × 2 mm round magnets already installed and holds against the inside of the glass with a matching magnet on the outside, so you can position it at any height and move it later without adhesive.
💧 Can it handle a misted or high-humidity enclosure?
Choose the PETG Wet Model for misted, planted, bioactive, or high-UV setups. PETG is the material CurioPrinta uses for wet and high-UV decor because it handles prolonged moisture better than standard PLA. Keep an eye on the magnets as part of routine maintenance, since metal hardware can corrode over time in a wet enclosure.
🎨 Is it painted?
No. It ships completely unpainted in a solid filament color, and the wood texture comes from the sculpt. Any painted images are finishing examples only.
🧱 Can I order this in PLA?
Yes, as the PLA Dry Model for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, and dry display. PLA is not recommended for submerged use, constantly wet or heavily misted enclosures, or strong UV lighting.
☀️ Which version should I pick for a UV-lit setup?
The PETG Wet Model. PETG holds up to high-output UV far better than PLA. It is not immune, since continuous UV can gradually embrittle any plastic over time, but it is the more durable choice for brightly lit enclosures.
🖌️ Can I paint it myself?
You can, but for anything going into an animal habitat you must independently research and confirm that any paint or coating is suitable for your intended species and conditions. CurioPrinta ships the piece unpainted and does not recommend customer-applied paint for wet or submerged use.
🧹 How should I clean it?
Rinse the PETG Wet Model with clean water and use a soft brush if needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasives, boiling water, and dishwashers. Dust the PLA Dry Model with a soft brush or a lightly damp cloth.
📦 Does it need assembly?
No. It prints as a single piece and ships ready to mount, with the magnets already installed.
📷 Will it look exactly like the photographs?
It will be very close, but small differences in texture, layer lines, and color are normal for made-to-order 3D prints, and the appearance can shift under enclosure lighting or once an animal has webbed it over.
🐜 Is it suitable for my specific spider, mantis, isopod, or other invertebrate?
That depends on your animal and setup, so please compare the dimensions, the opening, and the interior space against your species and follow qualified husbandry guidance. CurioPrinta cannot guarantee compatibility with any specific animal.
