Details
Stacked sandstone ledges, a shaded cave, and a sunlit plateau up top: this canyon rock looks like it was lifted straight out of a desert wash and set down in your enclosure. It gives your terrarium a natural focal point with a basking perch, a place to disappear, and several levels to climb in between.
📖 Full Product Description
Canyon Rock is a freestanding 3D printed rock formation modeled on the layered sandstone outcrops of desert and steppe landscapes. Fine horizontal strata run across the surface the way wind and water carve real canyon walls, and the formation is built from staggered rock masses that create natural depth from every angle. Designed by novYTerra, it works as a centerpiece in the middle of an enclosure or tucked into a corner against the glass.
The structure is layered with multiple levels, plateaus, and ledges. The raised top platform makes a natural basking spot under a heat or UV source placed at a safe distance, while the lower shelves give animals room to climb and survey their territory. At its base, an integrated cave with a pass-through opening provides a dark retreat, and additional sheltered nooks around the formation offer more places to hide.
For arid builds, the PLA Dry Model suits desert-style terrariums for keepers of animals such as leopard geckos, skinks, and smaller bearded dragon setups, along with invertebrates like many tarantulas and scorpions. For humid, misted, or bioactive builds, or any enclosure under high-output UV, the PETG Wet Model fits keepers of crested geckos, dart frogs, and tropical isopods. Match the version to your habitat’s humidity and lighting, and always compare the cave opening, ledges, and platform size against the adult size and behavior of your specific animals before use.
You receive one Canyon Rock formation in the size you select, printed unpainted in a single solid color. Every size prints and ships as a single piece with no assembly. Substrate, plants, animals, lighting, and the enclosure itself are not included.

🧱 Material Options
Canyon Rock is offered in two versions across all sizes, so you can match it to your enclosure:
PETG Wet Model
Choose this version for high-humidity, misted, and bioactive terrariums and vivariums, and for enclosures under high-output UV lighting. It is printed in PETG and supplied completely unpainted. CurioPrinta uses PETG for these setups rather than standard PLA because PETG handles prolonged moisture and UV exposure better than PLA. That is a material choice, not a guarantee: continuous high-output UV can still gradually embrittle PETG over time, and PETG is not indestructible, heat-proof, chemically inert, or universally suitable for every animal.
PLA Dry Model
Choose this version for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, shelf display, and general home decor. PLA is not recommended for submerged use, constantly wet or heavily misted enclosures, or setups with strong UV lighting. Pick PLA only when the piece will stay dry and out of intense UV.
🔧 Setup, Use & Care
For terrarium and vivarium use
🌡️ Verify the material and design suit your habitat’s temperature, humidity, lighting, and species, and pick the Wet or Dry Model accordingly.
🔥 Keep the basking platform at a safe distance from heat lamps and never in direct contact with heating elements or other intense heat sources.
🧱 Set it on a firm, level base or bed it into the substrate so it cannot tip, shift, or be dug under.
🦎 Check the cave opening, pass-through, and ledges against your animal’s adult size.
🧹 Inspect regularly for wear, damage, trapped waste, or areas that are hard to clean.
📘 Let qualified, species-specific husbandry guidance take priority over general product suggestions.
Cleaning
For the PETG Wet Model, rinse with clean water and use a soft brush when needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, boiling water, dishwashers, and high-temperature cleaning, and let it dry completely before long-term storage. For the PLA Dry Model, dust with a soft brush or cloth, use a lightly damp cloth when appropriate, and keep it away from intense heat.
📐 Dimensions
Approximate dimensions (Length × Width × Height), imperial first with metric in parentheses:
S1 3.9" × 3.9" × 2.6" (100 × 99 × 66 mm)
S2 4.9" × 4.9" × 3.3" (125 × 124 × 83 mm)
S3 5.9" × 5.9" × 3.9" (150 × 149 × 100 mm)
XL 7.1" × 7.0" × 4.7" (180 × 179 × 119 mm)
Because each item is individually 3D printed, minor dimensional variation may occur.
🎨 Color and Appearance
Canyon Rock is printed in a solid-color filament and is not painted. Natural-looking tone comes from choosing an appropriate filament color rather than from applied paint. Some listing photos may show it painted; those are finishing examples only, and your piece ships unpainted.
Colors may look slightly different in person because of lighting, photography, monitor settings, and filament batches, and appearance can shift under terrarium lighting. An exact color match is not promised.
🖨️ About 3D Printing
This item is created using FDM 3D printing technology. Fine layer lines, small seams, slight texture changes, and minor variations are normal characteristics of the process. These details are not considered defects and make each piece slightly unique. Support-contact marks may appear in hidden or recessed areas such as the cave interior, and minor cosmetic differences can occur between prints because each piece is individually produced rather than injection molded.
🛠️ Made to Order
Each Canyon Rock is printed individually after you order, so minor differences between pieces are normal. Production time is separate from shipping time. Every size, including XL, prints and ships as a single piece.
⚠️ Safety and Compatibility
This product is decorative habitat decor, not a toy. You are responsible for deciding whether the size, material, openings, surfaces, and placement are appropriate for your specific animals and habitat. Animals should not be allowed to chew or ingest the material, and the item should be removed if it becomes damaged, as small parts or broken pieces may present a hazard. CurioPrinta cannot account for every species, animal behavior, enclosure design, temperature, humidity, or maintenance routine, so please confirm suitability for your own setup before use.
CurioPrinta does not describe this product as "reptile safe," "non-toxic," or guaranteed for any specific animal. Naming a species anywhere in this listing is for search relevance and design context, not a compatibility or safety claim.

❓ FAQ
💧 Can this be used in a humid or misted terrarium?
Yes, choose the PETG Wet Model. PETG is the material CurioPrinta uses for humid, misted, and bioactive builds because it handles prolonged moisture better than standard PLA. This listing is intended for terrariums and vivariums rather than aquariums, and the PLA Dry Model should never be placed underwater.
🎨 Is the Wet Model painted?
No. The PETG Wet Model ships completely unpainted in a solid filament color. Any painted images are finishing examples only.
🧱 Can I order this in PLA?
Yes, as the PLA Dry Model for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, and dry display. PLA is not recommended for wet or heavily misted enclosures or strong UV lighting.
🔆 Which version should I pick for a basking setup with UV?
Choose the PETG Wet Model. PETG holds up to high-output UV better than PLA. It is not immune, since continuous UV can gradually embrittle any plastic, so inspect it periodically. Keep the basking platform at a safe distance from heat sources either way.
🧩 Does it need to be assembled?
No. Every size, from S1 to XL, prints and ships as a single piece.
🖌️ Can I paint it myself?
You can, but for anything in an animal habitat you must independently research and confirm that any paint or coating is suitable for your intended species and conditions. CurioPrinta ships the piece unpainted and does not recommend paint on the Wet Model.
🧹 How should I clean it?
Rinse the PETG Wet Model with clean water and use a soft brush if needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasives, boiling water, and dishwashers. Dust the PLA Dry Model with a soft brush or a lightly damp cloth.
📷 Will it look exactly like the photographs?
Very close, but small differences in texture, layer lines, and color are normal for made-to-order 3D prints, and appearance can shift under terrarium lighting.
🦎 Is it suitable for my specific reptile, amphibian, or invertebrate?
That depends on your animal and setup, so please compare the dimensions, cave opening, and ledges against your species and follow qualified husbandry guidance. CurioPrinta cannot guarantee compatibility with any specific animal.
