Details
Weathered stone slabs step up the back of the enclosure, each offset plateau catching light and shadow like a real rocky hillside. Below them, a rugged rock base spills forward into the substrate so the backdrop seems to rise straight out of the ground. This 3D printed rock terrarium background gives a flat glass wall genuine depth, with ledges to climb, perch on, and plant, whether you are building a bioactive vivarium, a planted aquarium, or an arid desert setup.
📖 Full Product Description
Stony Landscape is a 3D printed rock backwall designed by novYTerra to sit against the rear pane of a terrarium, vivarium, paludarium, or aquarium. The surface is sculpted with distinctive stone structures and a natural, weathered texture, so it reads as a real rock formation rather than a smooth molded panel. Offset plateaus and protrusions are arranged at different heights across the face, creating several levels of usable terrain, and an integrated rocky base section anchors the bottom of the panel for a layered, three-dimensional look.
Those staggered ledges are where the design earns its place in a living habitat. Tuck moss, ferns, epiphytes, or trailing plants onto the plateaus so greenery grows into the stone over time, or leave them bare as climbing and basking platforms in a desert build. In an aquascape, the stepped rock adds vertical structure and shaded recesses behind your plants and hardscape. The panel also works as tabletop terrain or a diorama centerpiece when used dry.
This backwall comes in two versions, so pick the one that matches your habitat. The PETG Wet Model is for high-humidity, misted, bioactive, partially submerged, aquarium, and high-UV setups, and suits keepers of humidity-loving animals such as crested geckos, day geckos, and dart frogs. The PLA Dry Model is for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, and display, and suits drier setups for animals such as leopard geckos and bearded dragons, along with invertebrates like desert scorpions and many tarantulas. Species are named to help you find the right fit, not as a compatibility promise: always compare the ledges, gaps, and dimensions against the size and behavior of your specific animals before use.
You receive one Stony Landscape backwall in the size you select, printed as a single piece and supplied unpainted in a solid filament color. Plants, substrate, animals, lighting, and the enclosure are not included.

🧱 Material Options
Every size is offered in two versions, so you can match the backwall to your enclosure:
💧 PETG Wet Model
Choose this version for aquariums, paludariums, and high-humidity, misted, bioactive, or partially submerged setups, and for enclosures under high-output UV lighting. It is printed in PETG and supplied completely unpainted. CurioPrinta uses PETG for these setups rather than standard PLA because PETG is better suited to prolonged moisture and UV exposure. That is a material choice, not a guarantee: continuous high-output UV can still gradually embrittle PETG over time, and PETG is not permanently waterproof, indestructible, chemically inert, or universally suitable for every animal or water condition.
🏜️ PLA Dry Model
Choose this version for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, shelf display, and general home decor. PLA versions are not recommended for submerged aquarium use, constantly wet or heavily misted enclosures, or setups with strong UV lighting. Pick PLA only when the backwall will stay dry and out of intense UV.
🔧 Setup, Use & Care
For aquarium and submerged use (PETG Wet Model only)
💧 Rinse the backwall thoroughly with clean water before placing it in an aquarium.
🚫 Avoid soaps, detergents, household cleaners, and unapproved chemical treatments.
🔍 Inspect the item before use and confirm gaps and ledges are appropriately sized for the animals in the tank.
🧱 Position it securely so it cannot shift, tip, trap an animal, or press hard against the glass.
🔁 Check it periodically during normal maintenance, and remove it if it becomes damaged, develops sharp areas, or no longer fits securely.
🐟 Introduce any new decoration thoughtfully and observe your animals after installation.
For terrarium, vivarium & paludarium use
🌡️ Match the version to your humidity: PETG Wet Model for misted or bioactive builds, PLA Dry Model for arid setups. Verify the material and design suit your habitat’s temperature, humidity, lighting, and species.
🔥 Keep it out of direct contact with high-output heat lamps, heating elements, and other intense heat sources.
🧱 Position the panel securely against the back so it cannot tip or collapse, especially the taller sizes.
🦎 Check plateaus, gaps, and climbing heights against your animal’s adult size.
🧹 Inspect regularly for wear, damage, trapped waste, or areas that are hard to clean.
📘 Let qualified, species-specific husbandry guidance take priority over general product suggestions.
Cleaning
For the PETG Wet Model, rinse with clean water and use a soft brush when needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, boiling water, dishwashers, and high-temperature cleaning, and let it dry completely before long-term storage. For the PLA Dry Model, dust with a soft brush or cloth, use a lightly damp cloth when appropriate, and keep it away from intense heat.
📐 Dimensions
Approximate dimensions (Width × Depth × Height), imperial first with metric in parentheses:
S1 5.7" × 2.9" × 3.4" (145 × 72.5 × 87 mm)
S2 7.5" × 3.7" × 4.5" (190 × 95 × 114 mm)
S3 7.5" × 3.7" × 7.5" (190 × 95 × 190 mm)
S4 5.7" × 2.6" × 8.4" (145 × 65 × 213 mm)
S5 5.7" × 5.7" × 9.5" (145 × 145 × 241.5 mm)
XL 5.8" × 5.4" × 9.8" (148 × 137 × 250 mm)
Because each item is individually 3D printed, minor dimensional variation may occur.- Aquarium version will always be PETG.
🎨 Color and Appearance
The backwall is printed in a solid-color filament and is not painted, including every PETG Wet Model intended for aquarium use. Choosing a stone-toned filament gives a natural look without applied paint. Some listing photos may show the backwall painted; those are finishing examples only, and your panel ships unpainted.
Colors may look slightly different in person because of lighting, photography, monitor settings, and filament batches, and the panel’s appearance can shift when submerged or viewed under aquarium lighting. An exact color match is not promised.
🖨️ About 3D Printing
This item is created using FDM 3D printing technology. Fine layer lines, small seams, slight texture changes, and minor variations are normal characteristics of the process. These details are not considered defects and make each piece slightly unique. Support-contact marks may appear in hidden or recessed areas such as the undersides of the plateaus, and minor cosmetic differences can occur between prints because each backwall is individually produced rather than injection molded.
🛠️ Made to Order
Each backwall is printed individually after you order, so minor differences between pieces are normal. Production time is separate from shipping time. Every size, including XL, ships as a single piece with no assembly required.
⚠️ Safety and Compatibility
This product is decorative habitat decor, not a toy. You are responsible for deciding whether the size, material, gaps, surfaces, and placement are appropriate for your specific animals and habitat. Animals should not be allowed to chew or ingest the material, and the item should be removed if it becomes damaged, as small parts or broken pieces may present a hazard. CurioPrinta cannot account for every species, animal behavior, enclosure design, water chemistry, temperature, or maintenance routine, so please confirm suitability for your own setup before use.
Species named in this listing are for search relevance and design context only, not a compatibility or safety claim.

❓ FAQ
💧 Can this be placed underwater?
Yes, when you choose the PETG Wet Model. PETG is the material CurioPrinta uses for submerged and high-humidity decor because it handles prolonged water exposure better than standard PLA. Rinse it first, position it securely, and check it during normal maintenance. The PLA Dry Model should never go underwater.
🎨 Is the aquarium version painted?
No. The PETG Wet Model ships completely unpainted in a solid filament color. Any painted images are finishing examples only.
🏜️ Can I order this in PLA?
Yes, as the PLA Dry Model for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, and dry display. PLA is not recommended for submerged aquarium use, misted or bioactive enclosures, or strong UV lighting.
☀️ Which version should I pick for a UV-lit setup?
Choose the PETG Wet Model. PETG holds up to high-output UV better than PLA. It is not immune, since continuous UV can gradually embrittle plastic over time, but it is the more durable choice for brightly lit enclosures.
🧩 Does any size need assembly?
No. Every size, from S1 through XL, ships as a single piece.
🖌️ Can I paint it myself?
You can, but for anything in an animal habitat you must independently research and confirm that any paint or coating is suitable for your intended species and conditions. CurioPrinta does not recommend customer-applied paint for submerged use and ships the backwall unpainted.
🧹 How should I clean it?
Rinse the PETG Wet Model with clean water and use a soft brush if needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasives, boiling water, and dishwashers. Dust the PLA Dry Model with a soft brush or a lightly damp cloth.
📷 Will it look exactly like the photographs?
It will be very close, but small differences in texture, layer lines, and color are normal for made-to-order 3D prints, and appearance can shift under aquarium lighting or when submerged.
🐟 Is it suitable for my specific fish, reptile, amphibian, snail, or shrimp?
That depends on your animal and setup, so please compare the dimensions, ledges, and gaps against your species and follow qualified husbandry guidance. CurioPrinta cannot guarantee compatibility with any specific animal.
