Details
Damp rock, old roots, and layered ledges wrap around the corner of the enclosure like a slice of rainforest floor lifted straight out of the tropics. Twisting root strands run through rounded stone, stepped plateaus rise on one side, and the whole face is rough enough for moss and epiphytes to take hold. Because it is shaped as a corner piece, it covers two walls at once and gives the enclosure real depth instead of a flat printed backdrop. Plant it, mist it, and let it grow in.
📖 Full Product Description
This is a 3D printed rainforest background designed by novYTerra and printed by CurioPrinta under a commercial license. It is built as an L-shaped corner section, so it sits against the back pane and carries around onto one adjacent side wall rather than covering a single flat surface. The sculpted face imitates a humid rainforest rock landscape: irregular rounded stone, intertwined root strands running organically through the scene, and multiple levels and overhangs that make the enclosure read deeper than it is.
The structure is not just surface texture. Stepped plateaus on one side act like natural rock shelves and give arboreal animals elevated places to sit. Roots dominate the opposite side and the center, creating climbing lines and shaded gaps between rock and wood. The whole surface is deliberately rough, which helps climbing species get a grip and gives moss, ferns, bromeliads, and other epiphytes something to root into over time. Pair it with a misting system and the texture holds moisture and character the way a real rock face does.
The naturalistic styling pulls from several keeping communities. In a misted, planted, or bioactive build, the PETG Wet Model fits humidity-loving residents such as crested geckos, gargoyle geckos, day geckos, dart frogs, and tree frogs, along with invertebrates like tropical isopods, springtails, and pinktoe tarantulas. For a drier build or a display piece, the PLA Dry Model suits arid terrariums, dioramas, and tabletop terrain, and keepers of animals such as many terrestrial tarantulas and temperate isopods. Match the version to your habitat’s humidity, and always compare the ledges, gaps, and overall footprint against the size and behavior of your specific animals before use.
You receive the rainforest corner background in the size you select, printed unpainted in a single solid filament color. The small size ships as one piece. The medium and XL sizes print across multiple plates and ship unassembled as separate sections that fit together into the full corner. Plants, moss, substrate, animals, lighting, and the enclosure itself are not included.

🧱 Material Options
This background is offered in two versions across all three sizes, so you can match it to your enclosure:
PETG Wet Model
Choose this version for high-humidity, misted, bioactive, and tropical rainforest setups, and for enclosures running high-output UV lighting. It is printed in PETG and supplied completely unpainted. CurioPrinta uses PETG for wet and high-UV decor rather than standard PLA because PETG handles prolonged moisture and UV exposure better than PLA. That is a material choice, not a guarantee: continuous high-output UV can still gradually embrittle PETG over time, and PETG is not permanently waterproof, indestructible, chemically inert, or universally suitable for every animal or set of conditions.
PLA Dry Model
Choose this version for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, shelf display, and general home decor. PLA versions are not recommended for submerged aquarium use, constantly wet or heavily misted enclosures, or setups with strong UV lighting. Pick PLA only when the panel will stay dry and out of intense UV.
This piece is listed as terrarium and vivarium decor. It is not offered as a fully submerged aquarium background.
🔧 Setup, Use & Care
For terrarium, vivarium, and bioactive use
💧 Rinse the panel with clean water before it goes into the enclosure, and skip soaps, detergents, household cleaners, and unapproved chemical treatments.
🌡️ Verify the material and design suit your habitat’s temperature, humidity, lighting, and species. Choose the PETG Wet Model for misted and high-humidity builds.
🔥 Keep it away from direct contact with high-output heat lamps, heating elements, open flames, and other intense heat sources.
🧱 Position and secure the sections against the corner so nothing can shift, tip, collapse, or trap an animal behind it.
🦎 Check the ledges, gaps, and root openings against your animal’s adult size and climbing habits before adding it to an occupied enclosure.
🔍 Inspect it regularly for wear, damage, trapped waste, or areas that are hard to clean, and remove it if it becomes damaged or develops sharp edges.
📘 Let qualified, species-specific husbandry guidance take priority over any general product suggestion here.
Assembly and placement
The medium and XL sizes arrive as separate printed sections. Dry-fit them in the enclosure first to work out the corner alignment, then secure them in place using a method suited to your build and your animals. Leave yourself access behind and around the panel for cleaning and maintenance.
Cleaning
For the PETG Wet Model, rinse with clean water and use a soft brush when needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, boiling water, dishwashers, and high-temperature cleaning. Let it dry completely if it is removed for long-term storage. For the PLA Dry Model, dust with a soft brush or cloth, use a lightly damp cloth when appropriate, and keep it away from intense heat.
📐 Dimensions
Approximate dimensions (Length × Width × Height), imperial first with metric in parentheses. Length runs along the back wall and width along the adjacent side wall:
Small (S1) 5.7" × 3.0" × 2.6" (145 × 75 × 67 mm)
Medium (S2) 15.4" × 7.9" × 7.1" (390 × 200 × 180 mm)
XL 23.2" × 12.0" × 10.7" (590 × 304 × 273 mm)
Because each item is individually 3D printed, minor dimensional variation may occur.
🎨 Color and Appearance
The background is printed in a solid-color filament and is not painted. Some listing photos show a painted example to demonstrate what the texture can look like once finished; your panel ships unpainted in the color you select.
Colors may look slightly different in person because of lighting, photography, monitor settings, and filament batches, and the surface reads differently under warm versus cool terrarium lighting or once it is misted. Natural-looking variation comes from choosing an appropriate filament color rather than from applied paint, and an exact color match is not promised.
🖨️ About 3D Printing
This item is created using FDM 3D printing technology. Fine layer lines, small seams, slight texture changes, and minor variations are normal characteristics of the process. These details are not considered defects and make each piece slightly unique. Support-contact marks may appear in hidden or recessed areas, and small cosmetic differences can occur between prints because each panel is individually produced rather than injection molded.
🛠️ Made to Order
Each background is printed individually after you order, so minor differences between pieces are normal. Production time is separate from shipping time, and the larger sizes take considerably longer to print than the small one.
🧩 The medium and XL sizes print across multiple plates and ship unassembled as separate sections that fit together into the full corner, so you can position and secure them yourself. The small size ships as a single piece.
⚠️ Safety and Compatibility
This product is decorative habitat decor, not a toy. You are responsible for deciding whether the size, material, ledges, gaps, surfaces, and placement are appropriate for your specific animals and habitat. Animals should not be allowed to chew or ingest the material, and the item should be removed if it becomes damaged, as small parts or broken pieces may present a hazard. CurioPrinta cannot account for every species, animal behavior, enclosure design, humidity level, temperature, or maintenance routine, so please confirm suitability for your own setup before use.
CurioPrinta does not describe this product as "reptile safe," "non-toxic," or guaranteed for any specific animal. Naming a species anywhere in this listing is for search relevance and design context, not a compatibility or safety claim.

❓ FAQ
💧 Can this be placed underwater?
It is listed as terrarium and vivarium decor, not as a submerged aquarium background. The PETG Wet Model is built for constant misting, high humidity, and damp bioactive conditions rather than permanent full submersion. The PLA Dry Model should never go in water.
🎨 Is the wet version painted?
No. The PETG Wet Model ships completely unpainted in a solid filament color. Any painted images are finishing examples only.
🧱 Can I order this in PLA?
Yes, as the PLA Dry Model for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, and dry display. PLA is not recommended for submerged use, constantly wet or heavily misted enclosures, or strong UV lighting.
☀️ Which version should I pick for a UV-lit setup?
Choose the PETG Wet Model. PETG holds up to high-output UV better than PLA. It is not immune, since continuous UV can gradually embrittle any plastic over time, but it is the more durable choice for brightly lit enclosures.
🧩 Does the Medium (S2) XL size come assembled?
No. The medium and XL sizes print in multiple sections and ship unassembled as separate pieces that fit together into the full corner. You arrange and secure them in your enclosure. The small size ships as a single piece.
🖌️ Can I paint it myself?
You can, but any paint or coating used inside an animal habitat has to be independently researched and confirmed as suitable for your intended species and conditions. CurioPrinta ships the panel unpainted and does not recommend customer-applied paint for wet or submerged use.
🧹 How should I clean it?
Rinse the PETG Wet Model with clean water and use a soft brush if needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasives, boiling water, and dishwashers. Dust the PLA Dry Model with a soft brush or a lightly damp cloth.
📷 Will it look exactly like the photographs?
It will be very close, but small differences in texture, layer lines, and color are normal for made-to-order 3D prints, and the surface reads differently under different terrarium lighting or once it has been misted.
🦎 Is it suitable for my specific reptile, amphibian, or invertebrate?
That depends on your animal and your setup, so please compare the dimensions, ledges, and gaps against your species and follow qualified husbandry guidance. CurioPrinta cannot guarantee compatibility with any specific animal.
