Details
A weathered tree trunk grows out of the back of the enclosure, its bare branches reaching forward into open space. Deep bark texture, knotted wood grain, and limbs that fork at natural angles turn a flat rear pane into the edge of a forest, with real climbing and perching routes for the animals living in front of it. It is the kind of backdrop that reads as habitat first and decoration second, and it gives a planted or bioactive build a strong vertical anchor to grow around.
📖 Full Product Description
This is a 3D printed background wall designed to sit against the rear pane of a terrarium, vivarium, or paludarium. The face of the panel is sculpted as a dense tangle of bark and wood grain, and a set of branches projects forward from it, forking and tapering the way real dead wood does. The result is a background with genuine depth rather than a flat printed image, and it adds usable surface area to an enclosure instead of only covering the glass.
The design comes from novYTerra, whose terrarium models are built around naturalistic structure. The forward branches give climbing and perching routes at several heights, while the recessed bark behind them creates shaded texture and sight breaks. A base foot runs along the bottom of the panel so it can stand against the rear glass, and the back is flat for a close fit. Some keepers set the panel in place and build substrate up against the base, and some secure it to the rear glass with aquarium grade silicone (not included). Plants, moss, and vines can be trained around the trunk and branch junctions so the wood disappears into greenery as the enclosure matures.
The naturalistic wood styling suits a wide range of keepers. For misted, planted, and bioactive builds, the PETG Wet Model fits high-humidity residents such as jumping spiders, praying mantises, dart frogs, tree frogs, crested geckos, and day geckos, along with humidity-loving invertebrates like tropical isopods and springtails. For a drier build, the PLA Dry Model suits arid-terrarium, diorama, and display keepers who house animals such as many tarantulas, scorpions, and temperate isopods. Match the version to your habitat’s humidity, and always compare the branch spacing, surfaces, and overall dimensions against the size and behavior of your specific animals before use.
You receive the branch background panel in the size you select, printed unpainted in a single solid filament color. This piece is the back panel and its branches only: there are no separate hides, caves, or planter cups. Plants, substrate, animals, lighting, mounting silicone, and the enclosure itself are not included. Every panel is printed to order, so the exact texture and layer character will be slightly unique to yours.

🧱 Material Options
This background is offered in two versions across all four sizes, so you can match it to your enclosure:
PETG Wet Model
Choose this version for high humidity, misted, bioactive, and partially submerged setups, including paludarium sections and enclosures running high output UV lighting. It is printed in PETG and supplied completely unpainted. CurioPrinta uses PETG for these setups rather than standard PLA because PETG handles prolonged moisture and UV exposure far better than PLA. That is a material choice, not a guarantee: continuous high output UV can still gradually embrittle PETG over time, and PETG is not permanently waterproof, indestructible, chemically inert, or universally suitable for every animal or water condition.
PLA Dry Model
Choose this version for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, shelf display, and general home decor. PLA versions are not recommended for submerged use, constantly wet or heavily misted enclosures, or setups with strong UV lighting. Pick PLA only when the panel will stay dry and out of intense UV.
🔧 Setup, Use & Care
Placement and mounting
💧 Rinse the panel thoroughly with clean water before it goes into an enclosure, and avoid soaps, detergents, household cleaners, and unapproved chemical treatments.
🔍 Inspect the panel before use and check the branches for anything sharp or loose from the printing process.
🧱 Position it securely against the rear pane so it cannot shift, tip, or fall forward. Substrate built up against the base foot helps, and many keepers bond the panel to the glass with aquarium grade silicone.
🔌 Leave enough clearance behind and around the panel that waste and debris do not collect where you cannot reach them.
For terrarium, vivarium & paludarium use
🌡️ Verify the material and design suit your habitat’s temperature, humidity, lighting, and species before installing.
🔥 Keep the panel away from direct contact with high output heat lamps, heating elements, and other intense heat sources.
🦎 Compare branch thickness, spacing, and the gaps behind the branches against your animal’s adult size and climbing behavior.
🧹 Inspect regularly for wear, damage, trapped waste, or areas that are difficult to clean, and remove the panel if it becomes damaged or develops sharp areas.
📘 Let qualified, species specific husbandry guidance take priority over general product suggestions.
Cleaning
For the PETG Wet Model, rinse with clean water and use a soft brush on the bark texture when needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, boiling water, dishwashers, and high temperature cleaning. Allow it to dry completely if it is removed for long term storage. For the PLA Dry Model, dust with a soft brush or cloth, use a lightly damp cloth when appropriate, and keep it away from intense heat.
📐 Dimensions
Approximate dimensions (Width × Height × Depth), imperial first with metric in parentheses. Depth is the full front to back measurement, including the branches that project from the panel face:
Small (S1) 4.9" × 7.1" × 4.9" (125 × 180 × 125 mm)
Medium (S2) 5.7" × 8.4" × 5.5" (145 × 213 × 140 mm)
Large (S3) 7.5" × 7.5" × 5.9" (190 × 190 × 150 mm)
XL 11.4" × 11.4" × 8.7" (290 × 290 × 220 mm)
Because each item is individually 3D printed, minor dimensional variation may occur.
🎨 Color and Appearance
The panel is printed in a solid color filament and is not painted. The bark texture reads well in a single tone because the depth of the sculpt creates its own highlights and shadows under enclosure lighting. Some listing photos show the panel painted; those are finishing examples only, and your panel ships unpainted.
Colors may look slightly different in person because of lighting, photography, monitor settings, and filament batches. Appearance can also shift under strong terrarium lighting or when the surface is wet from misting. Natural looking variation comes from selecting an appropriate filament color rather than from applied paint, and an exact color match is not promised.
🖨️ About 3D Printing
This item is created using FDM 3D printing technology. Fine layer lines, small seams, slight texture changes, and minor variations are normal characteristics of the process. These details are not considered defects and make each piece slightly unique. Support contact marks may appear in hidden or recessed areas, particularly underneath the branches, and minor cosmetic differences can occur between prints because each panel is individually produced rather than injection molded.
🛠️ Made to Order
Each panel is printed individually after you order, so minor differences between pieces are normal. Production time is separate from shipping time.
🧩 The XL is too large to print in one piece. It prints across five sections and ships unassembled and unfinished, so you join and position the sections yourself. If you use an adhesive inside an animal enclosure, research and confirm that it is suitable for your species and conditions first. Sizes S1, S2, and S3 ship as a single piece.
⚠️ Safety and Compatibility
This product is decorative habitat decor, not a toy. You are responsible for deciding whether the size, material, surfaces, branch spacing, and placement are appropriate for your specific animals and habitat. Animals should not be allowed to chew or ingest the material, and the panel should be removed if it becomes damaged, as small parts or broken branches may present a hazard. CurioPrinta cannot account for every species, animal behavior, enclosure design, water chemistry, temperature, or maintenance routine, so please confirm suitability for your own setup before use.
CurioPrinta does not describe this product as "aquarium safe," "reptile safe," "non-toxic," or guaranteed for any specific animal. Naming a species anywhere in this listing is for search relevance and design context, not a compatibility or safety claim.

❓ FAQ
💧 Can this be placed underwater?
It is designed as a terrarium back panel, so most buyers use it above the waterline. If your build is wet, misted, or partly submerged, such as a paludarium, choose the PETG Wet Model. PETG is the material CurioPrinta uses for wet and high humidity decor because it handles prolonged water exposure better than standard PLA. Rinse it first and position it securely.
🎨 Is the wet version painted?
No. The PETG Wet Model ships completely unpainted in a solid filament color. Any painted images are finishing examples only.
🧱 Can I order this in PLA?
Yes, as the PLA Dry Model for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, and dry display. PLA is not recommended for submerged use, constantly wet or heavily misted enclosures, or strong UV lighting.
☀️ Which version should I pick for a UV lit setup?
Choose the PETG Wet Model. PETG holds up to high output UV far better than PLA. It is not immune, since continuous UV can gradually embrittle any plastic over time, but it is the more durable choice for brightly lit enclosures.
🔩 How do I mount it?
The back is flat and the panel has a base foot, so it can stand against the rear pane with substrate built up against the base. Many keepers bond it to the glass with aquarium grade silicone, which is not included. Whichever method you use, make sure it cannot tip or fall forward.
🧩 Does the XL size come assembled?
No. The XL prints in five sections and ships unassembled and unfinished for you to put together and position in your enclosure. Any adhesive you use inside an animal habitat should be independently researched and confirmed as suitable for your species and conditions. Sizes S1, S2, and S3 ship as a single piece.
🖌️ Can I paint it myself?
You can, but for anything going into an animal habitat you must independently research and confirm that any paint or coating is suitable for your intended species and conditions. CurioPrinta does not recommend customer applied paint for wet or submerged use and ships the panel unpainted.
🧹 How should I clean it?
Rinse the PETG Wet Model with clean water and use a soft brush on the bark texture if needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasives, boiling water, and dishwashers. Dust the PLA Dry Model with a soft brush or a lightly damp cloth.
📷 Will it look exactly like the photographs?
It will be very close, but small differences in texture, layer lines, and color are normal for made to order 3D prints, and appearance can shift under enclosure lighting or when the surface is wet.
🕷️ Is it suitable for my specific reptile, amphibian, spider, or invertebrate?
That depends on your animal and setup, so please compare the dimensions, branch spacing, and surfaces against your species and follow qualified husbandry guidance. CurioPrinta cannot guarantee compatibility with any specific animal.
