Details
A textured rock wall of layered ledges, shadowed caves, and climbing terrain, with a great tentacled creature emerging from the stone as if carved by centuries of tide. Cthulhu's Lair works first as a functional habitat backdrop: it gives climbing and ground species real terrain to explore and gives keepers natural pockets for moss, plants, and hardscape, while adding dramatic depth behind the glass. For fantasy and cosmic horror fans, the kraken relief turns an ordinary enclosure into a sunken temple scene.
🐙 Full Product Description
Cthulhu's Lair is a sculpted terrarium background that mounts along the rear wall of an enclosure. The surface is an organic rock face with layered stone, eroded ledges, and shaded caves, built up into real depth rather than a flat printed backdrop. Woven into that rockwork is a large kraken relief and twisting tentacle forms, giving the panel a mysterious sunken temple atmosphere while it still reads and functions as naturalistic hardscape.
Built into the surface are multiple climbing platforms, layered levels, and shaded caves and hiding pockets. These give suitable animals places to climb, perch, rest, and retreat, while the varied depth creates natural sightlines and shadow throughout the enclosure. Because the panel is designed as a background, it sits against the rear wall and blends into planted or bioactive layouts, and live plants, moss, and vines can be trained around and over it to soften the structure over time.
This panel comes in two versions so you can match it to your habitat. The Wet Model is printed in PETG for high humidity and partially submerged terrariums, and the Dry Model is printed in PLA for arid setups, fantasy dioramas, and display. Full details are in the Material Options section below.
Intended habitats include tropical and humid terrariums for reptiles and amphibians (such as crested geckos, day geckos, dart frogs, and tree frogs), along with invertebrates such as tarantulas, isopods, millipedes, and land snails. Openings and cave sizes vary across the panel, so please compare every opening, ledge, and cave against the size, climbing ability, and behavior of your specific animals before use, since a decorative opening that suits one species may not suit another.
You receive one Cthulhu’s Lair background panel in the size, version, and color you select, 3D printed to order in a single solid filament color, unpainted and unfinished.
📦 You receive: one unpainted 3D printed Cthulhu's Lair panel in your chosen material, color, and size.

🌊 PETG — Aquarium / Submerged Use
Submerged panels are printed in PETG, which CurioPrinta uses for underwater décor because it handles prolonged water exposure better than standard PLA. Aquarium orders are printed at higher infill and with denser walls, which helps the piece resist buoyancy and stay seated once positioned, though you should still anchor or brace it and confirm it holds before adding animals. PETG is not indestructible, chemically inert, or suitable for every species and water condition, so evaluate it against your own setup.
🏜️ PLA — Dry Display Only
PLA is for tabletop gaming, dioramas, shelf display, and general home décor. It is not recommended for submerged aquarium use.
🛠️ Setup, Use, and Care
Rinse with clean water before use. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, boiling water, and dishwashers. Inspect the panel, confirm any openings suit your animals, and position it so it cannot shift, tip, trap an animal, or press against the glass. Check it during normal maintenance and remove it if it is damaged, develops sharp areas, or no longer fits securely. Introduce any new décor thoughtfully and watch your animals afterward.
🦎 Terrarium & vivarium notes
Confirm the material suits your habitat's temperature, humidity, and lighting, and keep the panel clear of heat lamps, heating elements, and open flame. Check openings against your animal's adult size, and follow species-specific husbandry guidance from a qualified source over any general suggestion here. The panel is not chew-proof, claw-proof, escape-proof, or heat-proof, and is not guaranteed for every species.
🧽 Cleaning
Rinse and use a soft brush; let it dry fully before long-term storage. For dry pieces, dust with a soft brush or lightly damp cloth and keep away from intense heat. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners unless you have confirmed they suit your habitat.
📏 Dimensions
Approximate size (Width x Height x Depth):
Size 1: 5.5" x 5.1" x 1.4" (140 x 130 x 36.62 mm)
Size 2: 7.5" x 7.1" x 2.6" (190 x 180 x 65.05 mm)
Size 3: 5.7" x 8.4" x 2.1" (145 x 213 x 53.76 mm)
XL: 15.1" x 14.3" x 4.3" (383.83 x 363.63 x 108.61 mm)
Depth is measured at the deepest point, from the front of the terraces to the mounting wall. As each piece is printed individually, minor variation may occur.
🎨 Color and Appearance
Any color in the color chart is available. For the most convincing wet-rock and aged-stone look, we suggest darker or muted tones such as grey, black, midnight, coffee brown, roasted chestnut, chocolate, oak, or olive green. Brighter colors are there if you want a bolder, stylized piece.
Panels print in a single solid color and are not painted. Actual color can vary with lighting, photography, monitor settings, and filament batches, and may look different submerged or under habitat lighting. A natural look comes from choosing the right filament color rather than from paint. Exact color matching is not guaranteed.
🖨️ About 3D Printing
This piece is made with FDM 3D printing. Fine layer lines, small seams, slight texture shifts, and support-contact marks in recessed areas are normal traits of the process, not defects, and make each print slightly unique. Every item is individually produced rather than injection molded.
📬 Made to Order
Each piece is printed individually, so minor differences are normal.

⚠️ Safety and Compatibility
This is decorative habitat décor, not a toy. You are responsible for deciding whether the size, material, openings, surfaces, and placement suit your animals and habitat. Do not let animals chew or ingest the material, and remove the piece if it is damaged, as broken pieces may be a hazard. CurioPrinta cannot account for every species, behavior, enclosure, water chemistry, temperature, or maintenance routine, so please use your own judgment.

❓ FAQ
Does it come painted?
No. Every panel ships unpainted and unfinished in a single solid color. Painted examples in the photos show what is possible with your own finishing.
Can it go underwater?
A submerged PETG version can. PLA versions should never be submerged.
Can I order it in PLA?
Yes, for dry use only: dioramas, tabletop, shelf, and home décor.
Can I paint it myself?
Yes, at your discretion for dry display. For any live-animal habitat, any coating must be independently researched and confirmed suitable for your species and environment. Painting is not recommended for submerged use.
Will it match the photos exactly?
It will be close, but color and texture vary slightly with lighting, filament batches, monitors, and the printing process.
Is it right for my specific animal?
That depends on your animal and setup. Compare the dimensions and openings to your species' size and behavior. Compatibility is not guaranteed.
