Details
Flat slabs of sun weathered stone stack into low terraces, a broad plateau balances on an eroded pillar, and a shaded tunnel runs underneath the steps. Rocky Savannah brings the layered sandstone look of African dry country into a terrarium or vivarium, giving your animals climbing levels, a raised lookout, and a shadowed retreat at ground level. It is low and wide rather than tall, so it works as a back panel, a side wall, or a freestanding rock feature in the foreground.
📖 Full Product Description
This is a 3D printed rock formation panel designed by novYTerra and printed by CurioPrinta for terrariums and vivariums. The sculpt is built from several flat, terrace-like stone slabs stacked on top of one another to recreate natural rock ledges, with fine notches, grooves, and graining across the surface that read as wind worn sedimentary stone rather than a smooth molded panel.
The left side carries a larger upper platform that forms the roof of a hollow beneath it. That slab rests on a pillar-like, mushroom-shaped stone column that looks like an erosion carved natural pier, creating a solid raised platform above and open shelter below. The right side steps down through staggered flat rock terraces at several heights, and a small tunnel shelter runs beneath those terraces for animals that want a shaded place to sit out the day. The designer notes the opening is sized for small reptiles or invertebrates.
Because the piece is relatively low and wide, it suits the front and side areas of an enclosure as readily as the back wall. Set it flush against the glass as a back wall module, angle it into a corner, or leave it freestanding as a rock outcrop with substrate banked around the base. Sand and fine gravel settle naturally into the lower terraces, and dry-tolerant plants can be arranged around the ledges to build out a desert or steppe layout.
The arid styling fits savannah, desert, and steppe builds. Keepers of species such as leopard geckos, African fat-tailed geckos, western banded geckos, and sandfish skinks search for this kind of terrain, as do invertebrate keepers housing arid setup tarantulas, desert hairy scorpions, Porcellio isopods, and harvester ants. Naming a species here is about the style of habitat the piece is built for, not a suitability claim: compare the tunnel opening, ledge widths, and overall footprint against the adult size and behavior of your specific animals before you use it.
For dry, arid enclosures the PLA Dry Model is the natural match. If your enclosure is misted, humid, bioactive, or lit by high-output UV, choose the PETG Wet Model instead, which ships completely unpainted.
You receive the rock formation in the size you select, printed unpainted in a single solid filament color. The XL ships as two separate printed sections that you position together in the enclosure. Plants, substrate, animals, lighting, and the enclosure itself are not included.

🧱 Material Options
This piece is offered in two versions in both sizes, so you can match it to your enclosure conditions:
PLA Dry Model
Choose this version for arid and desert terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, shelf display, and general home decor. It suits dry enclosures that are not misted and are not running high-output UV. PLA versions are not recommended for submerged use, constantly wet or heavily misted enclosures, or setups with strong UV lighting. Pick PLA only when the piece will stay dry and out of intense UV.
PETG Wet Model
Choose this version for high-humidity, misted, bioactive, or partially submerged conditions, and for enclosures under high-output UV lighting. It is printed in PETG and supplied completely unpainted. CurioPrinta uses PETG for wet and UV-heavy setups rather than standard PLA because PETG handles prolonged moisture and UV exposure better. That is a material choice, not a guarantee: continuous high-output UV can still gradually embrittle PETG over time, and PETG is not permanently waterproof, indestructible, chemically inert, or universally suitable for every animal or condition.
🔧 Setup, Use & Care
Before first use
💧 Rinse the piece with clean water and let it dry before placing it in an enclosure.
🚫 Avoid soaps, detergents, household cleaners, and unapproved chemical treatments.
🔍 Inspect it on arrival and confirm the tunnel opening and ledges suit the animals in your enclosure.
For terrarium and vivarium use
🌡️ Verify the material and design suit your habitat’s temperature, humidity, lighting, and species. Use the PETG Wet Model for humid, misted, or high-UV enclosures and the PLA Dry Model for arid ones.
🔥 Keep it away from direct contact with high-output heat lamps, ceramic heat emitters, heating elements, and other intense heat sources.
🧱 Position it securely on a level base so it cannot shift, tip, collapse, or trap an animal, and bank substrate around the base if you want it to sit lower.
🦎 Check the tunnel, ledges, and gaps against your animal’s adult size, not its current size.
🧹 Inspect it regularly for wear, damage, trapped waste, or areas that are difficult to clean, and remove it if it becomes damaged or develops sharp areas.
📘 Let qualified, species-specific husbandry guidance take priority over general product suggestions, and observe your animals after adding anything new.
Cleaning
For the PLA Dry Model, dust with a soft brush or cloth, use a lightly damp cloth when appropriate, and keep it away from intense heat. For the PETG Wet Model, rinse with clean water and use a soft brush when needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, boiling water, dishwashers, and high-temperature cleaning on either version, and let the piece dry completely if it is removed for long-term storage.
📐 Dimensions
Approximate dimensions (Length × Width × Height), imperial first with metric in parentheses:
Small (S1) 7.5" × 2.9" × 6.0" (190 × 73 × 152 mm)
XL 11.4" × 4.3" × 9.1" (290 × 110 × 230 mm)
The XL is printed in two sections and ships as two separate pieces. The measurements above are for the complete formation once both sections are positioned together.
Because each item is individually 3D printed, minor dimensional variation may occur.
🎨 Color and Appearance
The piece is printed in a solid-color filament and is not painted. A natural stone look comes from choosing a filament tone that fits your layout rather than from applied paint. Some listing photos show the model painted or shaded; those are finishing examples only, and your piece ships unpainted.
Colors may look slightly different in person because of lighting, photography, monitor settings, and filament batches, and the surface can read differently under strong terrarium lighting. An exact color match is not promised.
🖨️ About 3D Printing
This item is created using FDM 3D printing technology. Fine layer lines, small seams, slight texture changes, and minor variations are normal characteristics of the process. These details are not considered defects and make each piece slightly unique. Support-contact marks may appear in hidden or recessed areas such as the underside of the plateau and inside the tunnel, and minor cosmetic differences can occur between prints because every piece is individually produced rather than injection molded.
🛠️ Made to Order
Each piece is printed individually after you order, so small differences between prints are normal. Production time is separate from shipping time.
🧩 The XL prints across two plates and ships as two separate, unassembled sections that sit together to form the full formation, so you can position and secure them in your enclosure yourself. The Small (S1) ships as a single piece.
⚠️ Safety and Compatibility
This product is decorative habitat decor, not a toy. You are responsible for deciding whether the size, material, openings, surfaces, and placement are appropriate for your specific animals and habitat. Animals should not be allowed to chew or ingest the material, and the item should be removed if it becomes damaged, as small parts or broken pieces may present a hazard. CurioPrinta cannot account for every species, animal behavior, enclosure design, temperature, humidity level, or maintenance routine, so please confirm suitability for your own setup before use.
CurioPrinta does not describe this product as “reptile safe,” “non-toxic,” or guaranteed for any specific animal. Naming a species anywhere in this listing is for search relevance and design context, not a compatibility or safety claim.

❓ FAQ
💧 Can this be placed underwater?
This listing is written for terrarium and vivarium use. If you plan a wet, misted, or partly submerged placement, order the PETG Wet Model, which ships unpainted and handles prolonged moisture better than standard PLA. Never place the PLA Dry Model underwater.
🎨 Is the wet version painted?
No. The PETG Wet Model ships completely unpainted in a solid filament color. Any painted or shaded images are finishing examples only.
🧱 Can I order this in PLA?
Yes. The PLA Dry Model is the right pick for arid terrariums, dioramas, tabletop terrain, and dry display. It is not recommended for submerged use, constantly wet or heavily misted enclosures, or strong UV lighting.
☀️ Which version should I pick for a UV-lit desert setup?
Choose the PETG Wet Model. PETG holds up to high-output UV better than PLA. It is not immune, since continuous UV can gradually embrittle any plastic over time, but it is the more durable choice under bright basking lamps.
🧩 Does the XL come assembled?
No. The XL prints in two sections and ships as two separate pieces that sit together to form the complete formation. You position and secure them in your enclosure. The Small (S1) ships as one piece.
🖌️ Can I paint it myself?
You can, but for anything going into an animal habitat you need to independently research and confirm that the paint or coating is suitable for your intended species and conditions. CurioPrinta ships the piece unpainted and does not recommend customer-applied paint for wet or submerged use.
🧹 How should I clean it?
Dust the PLA Dry Model with a soft brush or a lightly damp cloth. Rinse the PETG Wet Model with clean water and use a soft brush if needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasives, boiling water, and dishwashers.
📷 Will it look exactly like the photographs?
It will be very close, but small differences in texture, layer lines, and color are normal for made-to-order 3D prints, and the surface can look different under your own enclosure lighting.
🦎 Is it suitable for my specific reptile or invertebrate?
That depends on your animal and setup. Compare the dimensions, ledges, and tunnel opening against your species and its adult size, and follow qualified husbandry guidance. CurioPrinta cannot guarantee compatibility with any specific animal.
